Sara’s unique journey from beginner to triple World Record holding freediver in under a year is a testament to her focus, determination and positive attitude towards challenge and extreme pressure (both mental and physical!). Freediving is often classed as an ‘extreme’ sport, putting it in the same bag as base jumping, snowboarding and other adrenalin-driven sports. However Sara must control – and even reverse - her physical response to stress, turning the fight or flight instinct into supreme focus and calm, reducing her heart rate to as low as 30 beats per minute. Physically she pushes her body to its absolute limits, starving her body of oxygen for almost four minutes, during which her lungs are compressed to the size of her fist. Top performance requires dedication, commitment, and utter trust and reliance on team members and safety divers. She speaks confidently and engagingly on her own experiences and how these can translate into a corporate or business environment – setting and achieving goals, teamwork and trust, stress management and focus under pressure. Bringing these principles alive, Sara brings her meditation and focus training into the boardroom, running practical sessions for stress management, mental focus and improved performance. |
